BIRTHDAY GIRL ๐ŸŽˆ

"You'll find something magical in Murakami's tales", my friend told me. Firstly, I didn't take his words seriously but.. in the month of April, I came across the book "Birthday Girl" by "Haruki Murakami". I read it and now I completely agree with him.
Hello, เฆจเฆฎเฆธ্เฆ•াเฆฐ, เคจเคฎเคธ्เคคे.. in today's blog there will be a book review.
Let's know about the author first.
HARUKI MURAKAMI
Haruki Murakami is a Japanese writer. His novels, essays, and short stories have been best-sellers in Japan and internationally, with his work translated into 50 languages and having sold millions of copies outside Japan. Few of his famous writings include "Norwegian wood", "Men without women" , etc.

THE BOOK
Inspite of being a small, handy book, it is filled with suspense, plot twist and learnings. This story is about a young girl (also the narrator) who encountered a strange incident on her 20th birthday. She used to work as a part- time waitress in the well- known Italian restaurant of Tokyo. On that day, she had decided to take the night off but the part-time girl fell ill, so she ended up working as she didn't even have some special plan for her birthday. In the restaurant, the floor manager had his special task to deliver dinner to the room of the restaurant's owner whose own room was on the 6th floor of the same building. He had never showed his face to anyone except the manager. None but the manager was allowed to deliver his food. Unfortunately, on that particular day, the manager fell ill. Therefore, the manager told her to deliver the food to the owner by 8pm. And here comes plot twist- she took the room service trolly into the lift bad rode up to the 6th floor. When she pressed the bell, an old man appeared. When she asked him if she should bring the meal in . He said ," Yes, of course, if you wish" . Then she told him that it would be good if he set the dishes in the haul as usual. He replied, "Of course. I'll put them in the hall . On the trolly. In an hour. If you wish" While talking to her, the owner got to know that that day was her birthday. So after wishing her happy birthday , he asked her to make a "wish" (what she had wished for is not mentioned ).
The writer leave us with two questions :
Q. Who the owner actually was?
Q. What did the birthday girl actually wish for?
The answers of these two questions will vary from person to person.
For example~
In my opinion, the owner was actually a "Genie" . As we know, a genie fullfils  three wishes, similarly here the owner had full filled three wishes of the girl. Firstly when the girl had asked him if she should bring the meal in, he said "yes,of course, if you wish . Then again he told her that he will put the dishes in the hall, on the trolley if she wish and lastly he asked to make a wish that would really come true.
And...
I think the young girl had wished for a *perfect life * . Maybe she had someone in her mind whom she considered to be perfect and wanted a life like him/ her.

But at the end when that thirty years old narrator talk to her younger self. She realised that she had made a wrong wish. As she's not happy. She had realised that nobody's life is perfect. Everyone's life is filled with ups and downs, it's a journey, a part of life.
And the story ends with a beautiful quote ( my favourite one too)
✨"No matter what they wish for, no matter how fare they go, people can never be anything but themselves. That's all"

(If you have already read this book, then what will be the answers of these two questions according to you, do let me know in my insta DMs)
